Soft Starts

Soft Starts are used to ramp up electric motors from start to full speed gradually to reduce the mechanical and electrodynamic stress on the motor and shaft and cables. Using soft starts can extend the life of the motor.

Typical applications where soft starts are used include conveyor systems to avoid the initial jerk of the start-up, pumps to eliminate surges, and belt-drive systems like fans to minimize belt slippage.

Wolters carry several soft start lines and can help you design the correct motor/drive combination.
