Industrial V Belts from Wolters Motors & Drives

v beltsWolters carries the Bestorq line of the Industrial V-Belts, including Single Classical and Wrapped Construction, A, B, C, and D cross sections in lengths from 13″ to 540″, cogged, and metric sizes. Single Classical Industrial V-belts, A, B, C, and D in fabric wrapped construction give premium industrial V-belt performance.

How Do Industrial V-Belts Improve on Standard Belt Designs?

There are three primary improvements:

  1. Industrial v-belts are not flat but instead use a trapezoidal shape that fits into grooves in the receiving wheels.
  2. This fit makes them substantially thicker and heavier than standard belts, pushing costs up.
  3. The higher price is a downside; however, this design brings several significant benefits.

What Are the Benefits of Industrial V-Belts?

Below are four of the benefits of industrial V-Belts:

1. Added strength

• Most v-belts are not simply solid rubber but incorporate cords and other strengthening elements into their design.
• The added strength makes them much more robust and less likely to snap than flat belts.

2. Better grip

• A standard flat belt only makes contact with receiving wheels on a single surface. Slippage and a loss of mechanical force due to attrition occur with the limited surface area contact.
• The trapezoidal design of v-belts causes them to contact receiving wheels on two or three sides, substantially increasing their grip and allowing for better energy transmission.

3. Quieter operation

• Typically, flat belts are segmented, leading to extra noise as they travel throughout a machine. V-belts generally have no segments, allowing them to operate almost silently when properly configured.

4. Improved performance in short to medium-sized applications

• Flat belts are generally better for systems where the belt needs to travel a long way due to their simplicity.
• However, in most applications where the belt needs only be short or medium-sized, v-belts provide more power and reliability.
