CoolBLUE Inductive Absorbers

Maintaining the bearings in a variable frequency drive (VFD) can be a significant challenge, and one which often led to premature engine failure – until the invention of CoolBlue Inductive Absorbers.  These revolutionary products are a hardware solution to an electrical problem, offering an affordable way to significantly extend the life of your VFDs with a simple accessory.

The Problem with VFDs

The variable nature of the current produced by VFDs has a tendency to create damaging levels of current, which make their way from the drive and into the rotor shaft.  This stray current can have negative effects on many parts of the engine but are particularly harmful to the ball bearings.

The harmful discharge can damage the bearings themselves, the lubricant, or even continue further on into the rotor, causing irregular behavior.  Previously, this was a problem that simply had to be accepted and dealt with, leading to excessive downtime, high maintenance costs, and unpredictable performance.  Previous solutions, such as grounding rings, were only intermittently successful.

However, CoolBlue Inductive Absorbers are now available, and offer a remarkably simple and easy solution to the problem!

How CoolBLUE Inductive Absorbers Extend the Lifespan of Your VFDs

Further, they are simple to install without any equipment modifications.  There’s no need for additional lubrication or any other extra hardware.  The entire installation process only takes about ten minutes.  Simply attach them to the lead wires, and they’ll provide years of protection to your engines.

Rather than merely grounding your engine, CoolBlue Inductive Absorbers are made from an iron-alloy nanocrystalline material that outright absorbs the stray and harmful currents produced by a VFD.

CoolBlue Inductive Absorbers are ring-shaped and designed to be placed directly around the lead wires connecting the variable frequency drive to the rotor shaft.  When four or more are used, they create an effective barrier, stopping the vast majority of unwanted electrical activity.

This means:

  • Enhanced system reliability and predictability.
  • Greatly reduced downtime.
  • Significantly reduced maintenance costs.
  • Less chance of unwanted electrical discharge or danger to workers.

CoolBlue Inductive Absorbers have revolutionized VFD usage, and we’re proud to carry them.
